Following a successful military career spanning nearly 20 years as a Sandhurst-trained British Army Officer, Drew Weir quickly established himself as a senior executive in the corporate arena in 2004. He has worked with high-profile FTSE 100 companies, including Royal Dutch Shell, BAA (now Heathrow Airport Holdings) & G4S, and held several CXO positions. He has operated primarily in the EMEA / MENA regions including such countries as, amongst others, Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Mozambique, and Tanzania.
Drew is a strategic professional with an excellent track record of providing a complete range of consultancy services to global clients. He has held key positions within commercial, operational, P&L, bid proposal / BD and client-facing disciplines. Drew has continually demonstrated robust and effective executive experience and project leadership in executing complex multi-disciplinary risk management programmes which deliver cost-effective solutions, critical compliance, logistics delivery and client satisfaction. Career highlights include:
- Reporting directly to the Iraqi Minister of Oil and programme managing the 16,500-strong Iraqi Oil Protection Force (OPF) in Iraq (2004-05) with the responsibility of protecting >6,000 kms of pipeline and 285 static sites as the COO of Erinys Iraq. The Iraqi Oil Police Force, the OPF’s direct ascendant, is still in place now;
- Managing and directing the successful evacuation of all Shell dependants from the Niger Delta in December 2006 as Head of Emergency Response for Royal Dutch Shell (2005-09);
- The programme delivery of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics as Head of Terminal 5, London Heathrow (2011-12). Terminal 5 is largest Terminal in the world with >28 million passengers per year and was awarded the prestigious “Best Terminal in the World” by Skytrax in both 2011 and 2012.
Drew has specialised in management consultancy and programme management, delivering and/or consulting on diverse projects in the aviation, oil and gas, telecommunications, automotive, renewable energy and security sectors.
Drew has a BA (Hons) in History and History of Art from Bristol University and a MSc in Logistics Management from Cranfield University. He is also a Prince 2 Practioner and a qualified AVSEC professional.
